Here's another macro photo...I've quite enjoyed my new converter - unfortunately I can't seem to find anything but flies!

Don't read if you are squeamish!!

Please don't scan down this post if you are at all squeamish or you don't like bugs!

Today I happily took delivery of my new little toy - a fisheye and macro lens converter! Ok, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, this little toy attaches to my lenses and can either be used to get nice wide angle shots (allows wider shots than the lens would normally get) and then if you don't want the wide angle look, you simply take that bit of glass off and you are left with a nifty little macro lens which acts like a magnifying glass -the macro experts would probably slate me for this, but its the simplest way to explain it.

So I went out and found some models - which were very difficult to direct!

A small competition...

Tuesday, 19 June 2007

I know a few people read this blog regularly, and therefore, I would like to run a small competition.
I would like people to email me either the story of how they met, or their engagement stories, and one couple (at random) will be chosen for a free pre-wedding/engagment shoot or even an after wedding shoot. Ok, the stories won't really help you win, but everyone likes to tell you how they met their fiance or how they proposed, and its always nice to hear them :)
I'm not going to put a time scale on this, just limit it to 7 entries (seven is my lucky number!) and then randomly pick one of the couples out.
The pre-wedding/engagement shoot can be done anywhere within 30 miles and afterwards, you can have your favourite photo either in a 8x10 print for you to show off at the wedding, or in a JPEG format so you can email it to friends and family, or use it on save the date cards or invites.
So come on, don't be shy, share your story.

Also, remember to trash your dress!

Monday, 18 June 2007

Please don't forget our offer to do free trash the dress sessions...these sessions are designed so that brides to be (in borrowed or charity shop bought dresses) or brides after their wedding, can go out and enjoy a day's photo shoot without the fear of ruining their dress.
We are looking for brides that really want to let loose and have no worries about their dress, as they feel they really won't be needing it again! The more outrageous the idea the better. We have already had an idea from one bride about bodyboarding and having a full photo shoot on the beach, as it is an important place for her and her soon to be husband.

So, do you have a fun idea? Climbing trees, lying in a field of poppies, riding your horse, running along a beach and into the surf? Whatever you like, we really want to have some fun with our brides and get those photographs you wouldn't normally get.

Come on - think outside the box!!

Rose Queens

Saturday, 16 June 2007

Well, we did it! We managed to survive the village day, and hopefully our local community will now recognise us a bit better.

Here are a few photos of the day...

Our table all laid out with our large selection of albums:

The release of the balloons with little messages tied to them:

The day has arrived!

Today is the village day up at Bunbury and we have everything ready! 3 big wedding albums, 2 small wedding albums, 1 baby session album, 1 model portfolio, 3 canvases and a large number of framed images.

We literally finished everything at 12am last night/this morning and we are very proud with everything! We'll be posting photos from the village day and of our little stand tomorrow. However, in the meantime, as I don't like to post without photos, here are some more from the baby session we did last weekend.

Wish us luck!

I never would have thought...

Wednesday, 13 June 2007

...it would be such a stressful time during the build up to the village fair on Saturday! There is so much to do and so little time! We recently sent a load of our albums off to Spain to start growing our empire out there, which meant we were only left with one album to show about 700 people!! It didn't quite occur to us that this wasn't accpetable until Monday, so we are now in the process of getting together 5 (yes, 5!)albums for people to come and see - including a nice orange model portfolio! We have also ordered a whole load of new canvases and frames.

Its been all systems go for the past week and apart from the final print orders and leaflets, we should be all set.

So, if you are coming up to see us at Bunbury Village Day this Saturday, we will be in a nice white gazebo (hopefully protecting us from the sun rather than the rain!) with canvases and framed photos all around us.

Little princesses

On Sunday we had some friends come over to the studio with their two little girls, Megan and their 5 week old new addition, Georgia.

We've been massively busy getting ready for the fair this Saturday, so we haven't had a chance to edit the photos, but we thought these ones of Nikki and Megan are just too cute not to show! It was amazing that Megan wouldn't stop running round when the studio was as hot as a sauna! Everyone kept smiling though and it was great fun!

Maternity photo shoot

Wednesday, 6 June 2007

A few weeks ago we have a photo shoot with an expectant mother. She has preferred not to have her name shown, as they are sensitive photos, however we have agreed which photos she is happy to share.

We really enjoyed this photo shoot and we can't wait for the little one to make an appearance!

Such an amazing day (and tiring!)

Monday, 4 June 2007

After shooting Niki and Cheryl's wedding on Saturday, we had Andrea and Ben's to shoot on the Saturday. The weather held out all day and even allowed everyone to spend time in the Grosvenor Pulford's gardens having drinks!

It was such an amazing day and such beautiful people - and I don't mean the models that were there, although they were a pleasure to photograph - Andrea and Ben were one of the nicest couples I have had the pleasure to work with. There was such electricity between them and every part of the day was full of emotion. Looking through the photos brings a tear to my eye as it was such a meaningful day.

The only hiccup was that I was not allowed to take photographs during the ceremony - but that didn't stop me from sneaking a few from the back!

Finally, I'd like to thank Andrea and Ben, and their families for such a great day. I really didn't want to leave, but by 12pm I literally didn't have any more room on any of my 3 cameras to take more photos! I came away with 1,400 photos, and it was only myself shooting! I'd also like to thank them for offering to book me a room at the hotel so I could stay and have some drinks - however, I had a meeting with our latest couple the next morning, so couldn't take them up on their kind offer.
